Case Study - Fantastic Nozzles Spot-Spray App

Overview

The Fantastic Nozzles Single-Spot-Spray nozzle selector is a web application built on Bubble.io that automates nozzle selection for farmers. It provides accurate results based on user inputs and actual spray widths, and allows users to vary the speed to see the effect on the spot rate.

This app automates tedious spreadsheet calculations for selecting the right nozzles. It helps users find the right nozzle based on their inputs and recalculates the spot rate (L/ha) based on actual spray widths. Additionally, the application provides an option to vary the speed and see the change in spot rate among other things.

Dave identified that farmers were struggling to find the right nozzle due to complex calculations. The manual spreadsheet method was time-consuming and prone to errors, which led to a need for a more efficient and reliable solution. In response to this need, we developed an easy-to-use progressive web application that automates the nozzle selection process and provides accurate results.

Under the hood, this app uses custom coded javascript calculations integrated into Bubble's no-code editor to achieve the desired results, as complex forumulas and dynamic calculations are not always achievable with Bubble's native functionality. This provides a great example of how to extend Bubble.io with code, and that almost anything is achievable.

The app was also converted into a PWA (progressive web application) so it could be downloaded and installed on any device, improving speed and native features such as push notifications.
